Why to consider giving birth ‘by centrifugal force’

Apparatus for facilitating the birth of a child by centrifugal force US patent 3216423 A

Childbirth: Give it a whirl!

Are you living in absolute horror of the birth, terrified that it’s going to entail suffering of the highest order? Have a look at what this couple of American scientists came up with to remedy the matter, apparently concerned about the wellbeing of pregnant women. Their inventive instrument is surprising, to say the least!

A turntable that allows the baby to come out more easily

George and Charlotte Blonsky are a couple of innovative researchers who designed a system that is at the very least surprising, which allows women to speed up the process of giving birth: a rotating turntable that works by centrifugal force. Almost looking like something you might see in the circus, the strange device has the ability to get the baby out more quickly.

The centrifugal force helps not only the mother but the baby as well

The regular birth process is not easy for the baby either, when the moment comes to leave the walls of the mother’s uterus. But the mother is also facing stormy seas. Mr. and Mrs. Bronsky are not about to contradict you, who state in their patent: “For a woman who has developed good muscles and did sufficient exercise during her pregnancy, as was the case in primitive societies, nature has given the equipment and the power needed for a normal and rapid delivery. However, it is not the case for modern women, who have not always had the opportunity to develop the musculature needed for birthing“.

How does it work?

A little like the knife throwing show at the circus, the mother-to-be lies on the table and is securely strapped in, the feet wedged into stirrups and the pelvis stabilised in a holster. And off they go with the infernal rotation (according to the spec in the patent, the maximum speed is 80 revolutions per minute!). Awaiting the baby’s arrival, everything is ready: there is a net in front of the mother’s pelvis, with the idea of gently catching the baby (all that’s missing is a puke bag!) For the moment, no mother has been curious enough to try out this somewhat hazardous invention…..
