Yes, you have read correctly, face wipes made from paper towels! Incredible but true, and  what’s more, they are relatively easy to make. One of our little secrets, us girls, is to skip the step of removing our makeup one night in three. Because it can be hard to motivate yourself for the tedious task of taking off your foundation after a night on the tiles… But make life easier for yourself with these handy eco friendly wipes, that you can make in just a few minutes at home! Let’s go….

Ingredients

  • A roll of paper towels
  • 500 mls of water
  • 2 dessertspoons of coconut oil, olive oil or castor oil (your choice)

Instructions

1/ Pour the water into a pot and add your chosen oil.

2/ Heat the mix on a low heat (or in a bowl in the microwave) just enough to melt the oil if it isn’t already liquid. Mix it with a whisk and pour it into a bowl.

3/ Cut your roll of kichen paper in two, halving it so that you have two shorter rolls, and immerse one of them in the liquid. (You can use the second roll for your next batch!)

4/ Leave it to soak for a few minutes, then pull out the cardboard roll on the inside. (It should come out easily). You can remove your wipes from the roll one by one by pulling from the hole in the middle, which should work almost as a wipes dispenser.

5/ Transfer your wipes into a watertight container like a tupperware with a cover, or reuse an old dispenser for wipes.

The wipes will keep for a few weeks depending on the temperature of your bathroom and the type of container you have used. Bonus tip: to prevent bacteria, you can add a few drops of tea tree oil to the solution before adding the paper towels.
