Easy decorative ideas to optimise and enhance the space in your bedroom

The bedroom is one of the rooms in which we spend the most of our time: for sleep, of course, which takes up almost a third of our lives, but also for making love, which can also take up a fair amount for the more energetic of us! We can also use the space for relaxing and meditating, reading, or processing our emotions. This is why it’s important to decorate it in accordance with our tastes, in order to feel good, at ease and relaxed while we’re there.

1/ Slide a document holder between the base of your bed and the mattress instead of a bedside table

Is your bedroom too small for a bedside locker beside your bed? Choose a nice document holder (which you can buy new, or recycle an old one), and secure it between the mattress and the base of the bed, to hold all your affairs (magazines, books, telephone chargers, glasses, medications, etc.).

2/ Get rid of trinkets so as to de-clutter your brain before going to sleep

Trinkets have no place in a zen bedroom. The more clutter you have in your room, the more clutter you have in your brain. By the same token, banish computers and televisions from your room, to avoid negative electrical waves and to improve the quality of your sleep. Every room has its function, and the bedroom is for recharging!

3/ Decorate your walls with books

Books, especially pocket sized books that take up less space, make excellent decorative objects which can bring an immediate touch of warmth to a cold or bare bedroom. You can use old palettes or wooden wine cases to make a whole new library, at minimal cost.

4/ Swap old unnecessary decorations with picture frames

Frames can easily replace decorations, and they take up less space when they are hung on the walls: choose similar models to avoid a cluttered effect, and fill them with photos of your loved ones, which remind you of happy memories.

5/ Easily make your own clothes rack

We don’t always have enough space for storage units. So here is a mobile clothes rack that could come in very handy. You can simply use a large branch from a tree and hang it from the ceiling with some nylon cord or a piece of twine.
